Music-Attracted Animals

Only innocent creatures swarm the music machines and disperse when the music stops. Why program this?

Unsolved

What We Know

Scorpions, fish, sheep, stags, ducks, and deer behave curiously around the music machines scattered through the world.

When the fish-pond machine plays, the fish swarm it and disperse the instant it stops; island animals and watchtower scorpions act similarly enamored.

Only the innocent, helpless animals are affected. No hostile creatures react this way.

Confirmed

Innocent creatures swarm active music machines

Fish swarm the machine while it plays and disperse immediately when it stops; other innocent animals act confused/enamored.

Theories (Ranked)

Promising

Worldbuilding flavour

It may simply be atmosphere: gentle animals are drawn to music. Nothing more.

Speculative

A hint or trigger

Given how much in Noita has purpose, the behaviour might be a hint toward a secret, or music may act as a lure somewhere (cf. the Crystal Key charged by music).

Speculative

Relocate the music machine to test other creatures

Use the 'bring to me' spell to move a music machine (or gather creatures) and check whether other creatures react, or whether different machines affect different creatures. Source: u/PartTimeCouchPotato

Speculative

Play the tune back with a music wand

Build a note-playing wand (Kantele/Huilu note spells) and play the machine's melody at the creatures to see if it triggers anything. Source: r/noita
